Airpods "Someday"

Shane Valentino designed and built two fully immersive city blocks from the ground up — one frozen in ice, the other buried in flowers — creating walkable, living installations at a cinematic scale. Directed by Spike Jonze for Apple AirPods, the project earned Shane the Production Design Award for Short Form and Music Videos.

Challenge

Apple and Spike Jonze needed to visualize what Active Noise Cancellation feels like — an entire world transforming in an instant, as if triggered by the press of a button. And it had to be built practically, at full scale.

Solution

Solution

Shane Valentino designed and built two fully immersive city blocks from the ground up — one frozen in ice representing heartbreak, the other buried in flowers representing hope. Every surface, vehicle, and detail was constructed practically at full scale, creating real, walkable environments that Pedro Pascal and a full ensemble of dancers performed in live.

Result

The film became one of Apple's most-watched campaigns, earned Shane the Production Design Award for Short Form and Music Videos, and demonstrated what's possible when installation-scale world building meets commercial filmmaking.
